Can a Christian Be an Unschooler?
Unschooling is an educational approach, an attitude towards learning. It refers to the ways in which we use books, materials, and experiences to learn and grow. The type of underlying structure you have inside yourself, your goals, value system, discipline, whether you watch TV or call parents by their first names, whether you use a patriarchal, democratic, or any other type of family structure, are not unschooling issues; they are parenting issues. Whether unschoolers or not, every parent must deal with these issues. Homeschoolers can agree on matters of how children learn and can even share a similar homeschooling style without agreeing on all of those personal issues; Christians can be unschoolers.
The Redundancy of Christian Education

Parkridge Baptist Homeschoolers Support Group
The Parkridge Baptist Homeschoolers Support Group is a ministry of Parkridge Baptist Church in NW Coral Springs. Christ's Church Homeschoolers
Christ’s Church Homeschoolers is a faith-based group of homeschool families in Jacksonville, Florida. The group meets weekly from September through April and offers extra-curricular classes such as art, P.E., science, and many others for a total of twelve class days in both the fall and spring semesters. Many of these classes are taught co-op style by parents in the group, and parental involvement is a requirement of group membership. Occasional field trips, parties, and weekly park days are some of the other activities that group members enjoy. Quarterly service projects seek to involve families in reaching out to the needy in our community, with a favorite being an annual garage sale for charity. They also sponsor Mom’s Night Out events and bible studies to encourage spiritual growth and friendship development.
Pinelands’ Enrichment Program
Pinelands’ Enrichment Program is a ministry of Pinelands Presbyterian Church. This academic homeschooling co-op provides, within a Christian atmosphere, opportunities that homeschoolers would not ordinarily have, by pooling together the resources and talents of parents, churches and community.
West Florida Home Education Support League (WFHESL)
WFHESL serves home educating families in the Northwest corner of Florida, including Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. They feature monthly Member Meetings in the Pensacola area, as well as smaller Cell Group Meetings and activities throughout the two counties. WFHESL members help organize a wide variety of activities and events that are announced to members in the monthly newlsetter. Family Treasures
Family Treasures is a Christian homeschool support group and academic co-op working together to create Christ-centered opportunities for long-term fellowship and learning. Family Treasures Homeschoolers currently has members from the Lehigh Acres, Buckingham, Alva, Cape Coral, Gateway, and the Fort Myers areas. Family Treasures consists of two parts--the homeschool support group and an educational co-op. FT co-op meets in Lehigh Acres for three class hours and another hour of optional recreation. The co-op meets on Friday mornings with the last Friday of the month as a park or field trip day.

The Calvary Chapel HomeSchool Ministry started with just a few parents who had been homeschooling their children and wanted to gather together for emotional and informational support. Gulf Coast Christian Home Educators Association (GCCHEA) is a local homeschooler’s support group. This is a large group of over 150 families from areas including Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton Counties, as well as military families living on the local military bases of Eglin, Hulbert, and Duke Field.

Classical Conversations was founded in 1997 by Leigh Bortins to provide Academic Programs and Services for home school families everywhere. Trinity Homeschooling Association
Trinity Homeschooling Association is a group of Christian homeschooling families in northeast Florida. We live in Keystone Heights, Grandin, Starke, Melrose, Interlachen, Hampton and Hawthorne which are located in Clay, Alachua, Bradford and Putnam counties. Each year moms meet in early August to decide what activities will best meet the needs of the families in the group for the upcoming school year. Activities are based on the ages, numbers, and interests of the children as well as the talents and connections of the parents. Therefore, the group changes from year to year, growing with the students.

This group is for those who use the Montessori method for part or all of their homeschooling efforts for all age groups. This is primarily a Christian group, though others are welcome to join.
Chipola Home Educators
The purpose of Chipola Home Educators is to enrich the educational and social elements of each homeschooling family. They provide field trips, group activities, and park day gatherings so that children can learn and play together. They also support adult family members. Moms' meetings provide an opportunity to give and receive encouragement, as well as exchange ideas and resources. Many of the members are Christians, but a statement of faith is not required to join Chipola Home Educators.
